I am the firm belief that the people of Three Rivers like to shoot themselves in there foot. You have something that's different and unique to this area and you make an issue out of it.I think Mr. King should go to Sturgis and see if he can open up shop where people are interested in promoting there area.

Story today on the front of the Sturgis Journal today "CARTED OFF" about your library kicking the WEENIE KING off there property. What a joke some of your people in authority are.

So if I understand the article in the Sturgis Journal (03/07/12), the city commission wants the library board to reconsider their decision concerning the Weenie King. Does this mean that anyone can now set up a portable business on city owned property. I wonder what the mayor's position would be if someone wanted to set up a book, magazine and paper stand?

Another thought concerning the article in the Sturgis Journal concerning comments from Tom Lowry and Daryl Griffith concerning the library board. It seems to me they were basically saying do what we want you to do or we will remove you. They must think a little threatening and bullying will help the situation. This should encourage citizens of Three Rivers to be on city boards.

I don't blame the Library Board. Who would want a vendor who seems to attract a lot of business cluttering up that corner when there are so many other uses that the Library Board has in mind for it. And cudos to the DDA for jumping right in here as this is in District 2 and the DDA has even floated him a loan. Evidently the DDA is only active if there is money involved for them.

come on...the guy has been there 5 years bringing a little bit of a Chicago flair to your town. What clutter? I have friends that stop have a hot dog and go back to work. Its a fun place to stop with your grand kids.I could care less what the paper says ,just leave him alone! You folks want another black stain on your city?

You would have to take it up with your city, why is there such despise for a guy who brought something nice to your city,I would thin you folks would be happy. As far as the library goes when I have been there everyone parks as close to the entrance as they can,I have never seen anyone park anywhere near the Weenie King.

I have no despise for the weenie king whatsoever. I do have a problem with the original person who started this whole mess and approved him to be there. The problem is now who do you allow there and who do you deny?

Big Cat - I was being sarcastic in my post. He adds some color to the town and it surely does not affect the library patrons ability to park as close to the door as they want.

So why are you taking it out on Mr King? Congrats to you city commission on there support last night. According to Mr. King a special ordinance was set up for push- cart operations in 2006 when he received his permit.Nice article in today's Sturgis Journal.

I am not taking anything out on Mr. King, I think he has a wonderful idea and business. But where do you draw the line? Do you allow any business that wants to sell on city property to do so, or only certain ones? Sounds like a perfect situation for a lawsuit in this lawsuit happy world we live in. So you approve of the mayor and Darryl Griffith bullying and trying to intimidate the library board into changing their opinion?

Citizen - I was not at the meeting so I don't know if Tom and Darryl's comments amounted to bullying. I do know that this issue came up last year and the commission and the public made it clear that they wanted him there. I just don't understand what the library board's issue is. I have been back thru the library board minutes that are available online and I don't see any mention of this. If nothing else, common courtesy would dictate that the board at least have the guts to let Mr. King know what they were planning.
