The southwest Michigan chapter of WAND (Women's Action for New Directions) is sponsoring a local peace march on Saturday, June 14.
The event, "Fathers, Family and Friends March for Peace" is a peaceful celebration, endorsing peace throughout our nation and world. It will take place from noon to 3 p.m. at the Family Dollar shopping center (east of the railroad tracks) in Cassopolis.
The march is open to everyone and will travel downtown and back - approximately one mile. A police escort will provide safety for the event.
While honoring fathers this year, everyone is invited. They welcome uplifting and creative peace-oriented signs and banners. Bring your singing voice and good spirits. Bring your dad!
Featured speakers include: Don Cooney, Kalamazoo, candidate for Michigan's 6th District congressional seat; Carol Higgins, Mendon, candidate for 59th District state representative; and Robert Weir, regional manager of the Department of Peace Campaign.
