Planned Parenthood thanks Right to Life

I thank God my mom is pro-life and that my wife and I are both pro-life. I appose Planned Parenthood because they support and refer abortions; I will not try and excuse the killing of babies because they offer other services. It is interesting how the letter written in favor of Planned Parenthood did not even mention the main thing that they are known for; stopping pregnancies and performing abortions, this is a multimillion dollar business for them and the real reason they exist. Does it make sense to call it murder when a babys mother shakes it to death out of frustration but yet it is OK to stop a life because it is still in the womb? If a pregnant women is beaten and killed the perpetrator can be convicted of a double homicide; yet the mother can kill the fetus (little baby) voluntarily and it is acceptable. SO it is murder if the pregnant woman did want the baby to die but it is not murder if the pregnant woman wanted the baby to die. No wonder the kids today are confused (and adults for that matter); we tell them something is wrong and not to do it yet they dont think there are any absolutes. I wonder why that is?(without absolutes there is no basis for deciding right and wrong). Think a fetus is not a baby? What do you think it will grow up to be? Even without looking at the morality of abortion you could ask the question, why is it beneficial to kill off generations of mankind? Are we overcrowded? I think not, drive to California, Texas, Florida, even just across the state to the UP. How much open country do you drive through? We have plenty of space. Generations of tax payers are being killed, scientists and doctors, the next generation of bridge builders and farmers. Pregnancy is not a convenience it is a responsibility. Call me old fashion but if you do not want to get pregnant than practice abstinence. If you need help with your pregnancy call the Pregnancy help line, they will help you both survive. Three Rivers DDA millage proposed

Now that things have calmed down I feel like I can let the public know some of my reasons for voting in favor of the 1 mil tax on all the properties in the DDA. I am not totally happy with the arrangement but feel that we had to correct the decision commissioners made in 02 and now we can move forward. They made an inappropriate implication that they were not able to uphold, although they made it with the information they had at the time it was still wrong. I would still like to look into the situation with residential properties in the DDA and see what can be done. Until then the entire DDA district will pay the same amount. There are a few issues being talked about concerning the DDA and Tuesday we were only addressing one of them. We were not looking at removing any properties from the DDA or re-drawing the boundaries. The condos which are in the original DDA have been paying a 2 mil tax and now will be paying 1 mil, that may not be the long term goal we are looking for but at least it is what I feel a start in the right direction. I want to thank those involved in getting the petitions signed by those that do not want to be in the DDA, it does give us some insight into what the property owners are thinking; however, the issue at hand was not to remove anyone from the DDA and I do not plan on removing any commercial properties form the DDA. Second district has been saying that services are not equal, that is because of the original agreement; now that they will be paying the DDA tax they will get service. If service is not received those property owners can now address the issue as tax paying property owners and will not be told that they do not pay for them. The DDA has made it clear that they intend to focus on the gateways to the city which mean they will start giving more attention to the 2nd district. I feel that by paying the tax the property owners can get more involved and have more of a say about what happens. I do not feel that the option given for the city to pay the DDA taxes was a good option, even though we freed up $11,000 by changing our auditors. The city has already made cuts and that money can be spent elsewhere like the Clean Water Plant for instance. While we are talking about water remember that we are looking at some changes in our drinking water system and the $11,000 may be needed there. If we would have gone with that option it would only have been for a year and at that time we would be in the same spot. Some may say that we could have thought of a better fix during that year but I still feel it was not the best choice for the general fund to pay for the DDA tax. There is a group that is willing to step up and pay the DDA tax for the residential properties in the expanded district. I said it Tuesday and I will say it here; I do not want to take that into consideration, if they want to pay the taxes then that is their decision, but I do not feel we can make a public decision based on the good will of a private group. There are too many variables (issues) with a private group paying for a public matter. I am really disappointed that everyone has jumped to conclusions about this matter and did not think that I did this with the residents best interest in mind, I do feel this was the best choice for right now and I will continue to look at the issue. No one has called me to see why I voted the way I did but instead assumed I received some bonus for this. I made this decision based on the information given me and this was not part of a deal made outside of the board room.

Four commission seats in contest this November

Pepa, to answer your question. When a vacancy is filled by appointment that seat is only filled until the next election for that board, then that seat is to be elected to finish the remainder of the original term. So, even though the seat is a 2 year term the next election is this year, since the original term is half over the election this year will finish the remainder of the term which is one year. Next year the 1st commission seat will be up for election again; so I will potentially be able to run for the same seat three years in a row.
