Whats going on?

jtrayling, Yes I could have spoken to the commissioners about this; but kind of hard to do, when I was on my days off. I was not informed of the incident that was occurring. I admit if Brad wasn't informed, as he only had 15 minutes notice of the meeting, and since we have been both off, we may not have been invited to the meeting this coming Friday to discuss this matter further. I too am glad Brad was able to be able to attend the meeting and have this matter tabled. If I would have known, they would have had both Brad and I at that meeting.

I will tell you I do not belong to any cliques, and you can ask anyone at the department. I have not asked, nor have I decided who I will ask to be the jail administrator. As for U/S I have 2 possibilities, and neither is in a position to give me an answer because of their current positions in this election. No I have not asked Dennis or Curtis. I did state and will promote from within. It is a small department and there is only a few people that are interested in being an U/S. As we all know you are only good until the next election unless you win. If I wasn't so adamant about promoting from within, I could ask officers from the past whom I have had the opportunity to work with that would be excellent U/S, but because of the way I am they will not be asked. I feel the officers at the department would like to work with their own. I know I do, and I know other road deputies do as well.

St Joseph County Citizen, I wish I could answer your question. Because of certain circumstances, I will not be able to reveal that answer until November 5th. I will tell you that I have told Capt Jim Barnes, that he can stay in his position until he retires, as he only has approximately one year left. I will not ruin someones retirement, because they exercised their political right to support another. I am also watching how the employees are reacting to the outcome of this race, and their actions towards the other employees who have exercised their rights to support the people of their choosing. Some have disappointed me immensely, while others have been either neutral or corrigable. I know no matter who I appoint, or Brad appoints, no one will be totally satisfied with our picks. Not everyone likes everyone. The people are electing either Brad or myself, and they have to trust that either one of us will make the best decision that we feel is possible. I ask that the people look at our backgrounds, experience, education, and our plans for the St Joseph County Sheriff Department and make a decision as to who they want for a sheriff and vote.

IMO- The raid team should be called out at anytime there is a high risk entry; that is what they are trained for. All officers have minimal training on clearing, and searching. The difference in training is night and day. I would never put the inexperienced in jeopardy, when time is not of the essence and you have trained personnel, that can be utilized.

I would say she is an educated democrat, and some people have heard of Kline's resort. Her maiden name is Kline. I believe some people may know of her. I believe her education may exceed others that are running, but I always forget; this is a republican county, and democrat's don't count and neither does education. Contrary to belief, the election is in Novemner not August 5th, as so many believe.
