Cochran, BAD CHOICE!

No one is defaming, libeling & slandering Mr. Cochran if what they are saying is true. If he has an arrest record for child support evasion, then that is a public record and his voters have a right to be informed. If Mr. Cochran has this record and is running for public office, he should expect it to come to light! As far as the Michigan child support goes, myself and my husband paid child support to his ex-wife for their children for 16 years and when his youngest child from that marriage graduated he was paid in full. Yes he was taken back every 2 years and he was forced to pay for 90 percent of medical, dental, etc in addition to being the sole provider of health insurance. Sometimes it felt unfair but the court has a formula and they go by it. During the course of the 16 years, we were short a few times and when that happened, we worked out a schedule for payment and getting it caught back up. As far as the court was concerned, putting a parent in jail for non-payment was a last resort, after all while in jail that parent most certainly won't be able to provide for the children. As annoying and unfair as the system can seem sometimes, they are trying to do what is best for the children, and a parent sitting behind bars is not achieving that goal. After my dealings with the Michigan child support system, I believe the court will not put someone in jail if at least an effort is being made (i.e. partial payment, sporadic payment.) At any rate running for public office opens one up to this type of scrutiny and it should be expected.

TRCS Education Budget Deficit

I've been in waiting to meet with a staff and the whole time hearing them on the telephone ordering flowers for a personal party at they were having. I find the entire thing frustrating since at every board meeting Rathburn is talking about the need for further cuts to the kids programs (i.e. fieldtrips, sports etc.) while all this waste is going on.
