Obama and Gun Control

I have been in law enforcement since 1993, and I was a Federal Firearms Licensed(FFL) dealer for several years prior to that. I can tell you that THEY(government, liberals, BATF, Boogeymen, or whatever you want to call THEM have steadily reduced our 2ND Amendment rights. George Bush One did it, with a swipe of his pen, in 1989. The government did it again, in 1994, with the "Clinton" gun ban . The Clinton ban outlawed firearms based on the way they looked because they served "no sporting purpose." THEY pass complicated confusing laws that only serve to restrict law abiding citizens and have no effect on the lawbreakers. Further, the BATF has a lot of power and they can make "administrative" policies that further restrict our rights. I could could spend hours typing in quotes from THEM. THEY like to use little phrases like "common sense gun laws" as THEY slowly grab away our rights. If you think THEIR main goal is anything but a total gun ban then you might want to wake up. And as far as common sense laws, here is some common sense. Enforce the existing laws. Make the punishment harsh, and sometimes final for lawbreakers. Going after the object used to commit a crime makes no sense. If it does then maybe we need to pass laws banning Mercedes Benz automobiles because a lady used one to run over her spouse. Further we should definitely ban baseball bats. Especially those aluminum type that serve no sporting purpose. Molon Labe!

If anyone is interested in exercising their right to bear arms, the Sturgis PD is having one more Concealed Pistol Safety Training Course this year. As always, no firearms experience is necessary. If you currently do not own a pistol, the department will provide one for your use. Cost is $75.00, per participant. The police can not be everywhere at once, and unless you are someone, like Rosie O'Donnell, you probably can not afford an armed body guard. I personally believe the "new" CCW law enhances safety, in communities. The class is filling fast, however, we do have room for a few more participants.

Missy, We normally offer our course a minimum of twice per year, once in the spring and once in the fall. Most years we have run 3-4 classes because of demand. We also, do special scheduling for groups that would like to take the course together. If you have friends, family, or co-workers that would like to schedule a special session they can contact me at 269-659-7260 ext 458. I need a minimum of five students to schedule a special session. I recently held a class for employees of a local company.
