pepa: Borderline Personality Disorder IS very complex, you're absolutely correct. As an example, Danny Rolling(aka The Gainsville Ripper) was diagnosed with BPD. After sitting in on meetings with psychiatrist after psychiatrist, the two commonalities always mentioned were "fear of being alone" and "extreme manipulation of others". Angela would use the threat of suicide as her manipulation against me. Any small thing she found not to suit her needs, she went straight for a huge stash of hidden pills(threatening to take them all), or straight for a knife(threatening to cut her wrists, slit her own throat, etc). To be honest, the Three Rivers Police became tired of having to deal with Angela Church, but no one can say they treated her poorly. I can't even fathom how many times I attempted to pack the kids up and leave, only to be met with a knife wielding Angela at the door threatening to kill ME. TR Police showed up and what did they do every single time? Did they file any criminal charges against her? NO. They took her straight to the Three Rivers Emergency Room to be examined by the Doctor on call as well as waiting for Community Mental Health to show up and decide the best course of action. Terrible treatment of Angela Church by the Police, huh? NOW, let's get the facts completely accurate as they pertain to the incident alleged in the lawsuit. On the date in question, Angela Church was being detained at the Three Rivers ER because she was threatening suicide. At this point, she began her little "game". She broke out of the Emergency Room. She fled. She forcibly entered the first occupied vehicle she came upon(occupied by a woman and her baby) and FORCED them to drive her to the home of a person named in the suit as "TS"(I'll provide a full name for "TS" once I have gone through all of my papers just to make absolutely sure I name the right person). The woman who had been kidnapped and forced to drive Angela to the home, called the police and told them where she dropped Angela off. For some ridiculous reason</sarcasm>, the police decided to go find the suicidal Angela Church and also investigate the kidnapping. The frivolous lawsuit filed by attorney Elizabeth Warner alleges that Angela Church did not give the police "permission" to enter the home. Since "TS" lived there, not Angela Church, the police obtained the permission of "TS" and entered the home without a search warrant. Silly, I know</more sarcasm>. And,(if I have my facts straight, which I believe I do) "TS" was employed by St. Joseph County and even had a desk in the same office as Child Protective Services. So, with the permission to enter the home of a St. Joseph County employee, Angela Church was arrested for kidnapping and taken forthwith to the St. Joseph County Jail. pepa: I think you're confused. "multiple personality disorder" is not the same as "Borderline Personality Disorder". Angela Church is diagnosed as having Borderline Personality Disorder. Some symptoms of borderline personality disorder(sources are Mayo Clinic and National Institute of Mental Health): * often engage in impulsive and risky behavior * Strong emotions that wax and wane frequently * Intense but short episodes of anxiety or depression * Inappropriate anger, sometimes escalating into physical confrontations * Difficulty controlling emotions or impulses * Fear of being alone * people with BPD often engage in impulsive and risky behavior. This behavior often winds up hurting them, whether emotionally, financially or physically. For instance, they may drive recklessly, engage in unsafe sex, take illicit drugs or go on spending or gambling sprees. People with BPD also often engage in suicidal behavior or deliberately injure themselves for emotional relief. * Because of their risky, impulsive behavior, people with BPD are also more vulnerable to unplanned pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, motor vehicle accidents and physical fights. They may also be involved in abusive relationships, either as the abuser or the abused. * Self-injury, such as cutting or burning, can result in scarring and frequent hospitalizations. embilmama: I agree Bipolar disorder is classified as an Axis I, major mental illness in the DSM IV. However, Borderline Personality Disorder is the mental illness that Ms. Church suffers from, an Axis II Personality disorder(one step below Anti-social Personality Disorder which is a sociopath, ala Ted Bundy, etc). Borderline Personality Disorder is literally impossible to treat pharmacologically(using medicine) since it is NOT caused by a chemical imbalance. It is what they ARE. It is literally embedded into their psyche. Try giving a pill to a serial killer and see if that will stop them from killing. I, also have some knowledge of Bipolar Disorder, since while I was married to Ms. Church, Psychatrist after Psychiatrist would tell me that they've added that particular diagnosis to her illness so that they could have a medically approved reason(paraphrasing) for dispensing/prescribing different medications in an attempt to control her obscene behavior. In the case of Ms. Church, I've seen her Axis I diagnosis go from "none", to "Schizoaffective Disorder", to 2 different subcategories of "Schizoprhenia", to "Bipolar Disorder", and practically every other major mental illness contained in the DSM IV. The one thing that has never changed and has admittedly by ALL psychiatrists been the predominate illness, is her Axis II diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder. To date, the only mental health professional I know of who insisted on Bipolar disorder as a diagnosis was a Psychologist(who of course cannot prescribe medication- only a Psychiatrist can) who was ultimately sued by attorney Elizabeth Warner for, once again, sexual related "crimes" against Angela Marie Church. And what seems to be getting lost in this case, is that the REAL victims were the citizens of St. Joseph County who could have been harmed or killed by Ms. Mead's drunken driving, as well as the woman and her baby who were kidnapped by Angela Marie Church and forced to drive her to her chosen location. I am curious to ask one question of you, embilmama: Unless I missed something(which is very possible), Bipolar Disorder hasn't even been mentioned here or in the WWMT article regarding the two alleged victims(only histories of 'alleged' sexual abuse). Are you confusing BPD(Borderline Personality Disorder) with BD(Bipolar Disorder)? I'm curious as to why you brought it up in this thread? Was it a statement regarding the treatment of past prisoners who may suffer from Bipolar Disorder? I'm certainly not trying to impinge on your right to post your opinions in any way, shape or form. I'm simply curious.

Sorry, I just found the specifics. My ex-wife is not a party to the Mead case at all. Hers is scheduled for trial in 2009. Ambulance chasing attorney Elizabeth Warner is suing on her behalf for 2 Million dollars. Looks like the Mead case is just a "test" for the bigger one coming up later next year.
