Next Step for LFP Fire Station - 8/7/08
Three Rivers Area • Nov 1, 2008 6:35 AM
I personally would like to see Centreville fire department cover a portion of lockport township, just like they did in the past. It seems a bit odd that LFP fire department runs right up to the village limits of centreville to respond to a call when a fire department sets idle only a few blocks away because it is not their area to cover. At some point this whole fire coverage area became an ego trip. If you want to do what is best for the tax payers you should have the closest fire department responding, whether it be from the city of three rivers, centreville, mendon, schoolcraft etc... You can throw out there that there is mutual aid agreements but that is bologna. It only works if you use it and I have seen times LFP should have used it but didn't, as well as other departments. LFP has a lot of good people and my issue is not with them. It is with this whole system. Build them a new fire station, I am sure they need it. My issue is with the leaders of lockport township. You pulled this same crap when centreville was looking at getting another fire truck. You can not have your cake and eat it too. Eventually equipment is going to cost you money. Eventually your buildings are going to become outdated and to small. 50 years ago fire departments were not built for such big equipment. To the people of lockport township I do not envy the situation you are in but the only people you have to thank are those that are leading you. They have gotten you into another mess yet again and are looking to point blame somewhere else, yet again.

I did not threaten you, why threaten me. I would hope this is not how you handle every situation you encounter.
