What do you like about Three Rivers?

Funny thing about feeling like an outsider, I ran in to a friend the other night and this very topic came up. They are Three Rivers born and raised, never left. They feel like outsiders because of getting married with the name change. They understand how it can be. This is most likely why they are so quick to welcome someone from "outside". I have wondered if part of the trouble comes from when GM started Hydra-Matic and many people from out of the area moved here for jobs. Is there still lingering hurt feelings from that? Did the good people of this area feel displaced by the influx of "city People"? I know I'll never know for sure. I have made some wonderful friends here, would not change that. I loved seeing how everyone came together in support of the Football team this year. We went to the Big Game at Ford Field with my family. We are "detroiters" by birth. As I was greeted by my many friends, my family commented, " do you know everybody?" I had to reply, " No, not everybody, but enough to feel like staying." Not a wildcat by birth, but a Wildcat by choice. Go Cats!!

What do you like about Three Rivers?

I've been here almost 20 years and still feel like I'm an outsider to most people. The things I like are the same as everyone else, the small town, all the water, lakes and rivers. Short drive to Lake Michigan. Things that get to me, how you don't fit in if you don't have the right name. I find that with my children. They tend to be over looked because their parents are not "Three Rivers" people. Don't get me wrong, I've made some wonderful friends here, would not change that for the world. Just would be nice if others would stop thinking that only true "Three Rivers" people are all that. One of the biggest things I like about Three River, I don't live in the City [:D]

Ever wonder way the bad samples always seem to come from the DPS? Could it be the extra "crap"[8D] from the way the employees are treated? just wondering.
