One thing the media has neglected to report on is one of the questions asked of Commissioner Eaton. He was asked (paraphrase) if in his capacity as a financial adviser, did he have any clients that had connections with Trine. He stated he did not other than the possible connection with a student who is a relative of a client. During the citizens comment portion it was revealed that Larry Franks is one of Eaton's clients who according to the Trine website is on the Trine Board of Trustees....

Not that it'll do much good, but here it goes: It is the traffic stop that results from someone reaching for an excuse to pull someone over, either to make themselves look efficient or just to justify their position in the world. Law-abiding citizens do NOT deserve to suffer someone else's low-performing feeling of inadequacy by being stopped someone trying to impress his bosses or fellow officers. One of the duties a police officer swears to do is enforce traffic laws. Not everyone who gets pulled over gets issued a citation. The officer may give them a warning (cuts down on the "suffering"). He may just pull over a vehicle with only one headlight working so the driver has the oppourtunity to repair it. That way he can see where he is going and what's in the road ahead of him. (could be a deer,could be your child.) In most places of employment when an employee busts his butt and does the job he is asked to do they are rewarded. Why should it be any different for officers that swear to uphold the law for their bosses.(the public) I guess if enforcing traffic laws is a attempt by a officer "to make themselves look efficient or just to justify their position in the world" they should just stop enforcing traffic laws. They should also never run into a burning building to save your wife or child. They should never crawl into a burning car to pull your sorry butt out when you decided to drink and hit the road, then a tree. They should never have climbed the stairwells of the Twin Towers to pull their "bosses" from the collapsing buildings. If they are only trying to "impress his bosses or fellow officers" they shouldn't risk there lives for YOU.

Thanks for the backup Buck. Nice to see doing your job and being courteous to the public (no matter what the circumstances) is still appreciated by some. I guess of all the comments made one sticks out that I feel able to comment on without getting too steamed up. "Most of the time it seems they see the EASIEST way to go after the drug trade is to make a traffic stop, and thereby catch mostly lawabiding citizens into their nets, along with the occasional larger haul." So.....if someone obeys every law on the books (except they sell crack to our kids)are they considered "mostly law abiding"? What is the suggested course of action when dealing with a "mostly law abiding citizen"? If a "mostly law abiding citizen" is speeding (probable cause for a traffic stop) and upon approaching the vehicle you observe a active Meth-Lab in the back seat what then? I would guess that a lot of people who break the law (ie. criminals) may blend right in with "mostly law abiding citizens) including serial murderers. The traffic stop is used to enforce traffic laws and may lead to apprehending criminals (ie. people that break the law). I guess that if a "mostly law abiding citizen" has a bag of weed in the car just maybe he or she should at least obey the traffic laws. Just a thought.
