Lived in TR for about 35 years and just moved to a city nearby in 2007. Over the years I have been 'somewhat' active in local happenings. There were times when I heard (and said myself) that the best entertainment on TV was watching the CC meetings!!!

I have to agree with the above comment about "creatively" worded questions. There's a big difference, in my opinion, between individuals and/or companies giving freely of their time and money to the schools of St. Joseph County and being legally required to pay more via one's property taxes. Where's the "free will" in the latter option? So, in effect, it seems to me that this entity has a misplaced notion of what free will is all about! What about the free will of the voters to elect people who don't think its their responsibility to squeeze more and more from the taxpayers?

I wonder how much money the city has spent repairing/upgrading/replacing parts of the waste water treatment plant since the sewage from Constantine began getting "shipped" via pipeline to TR? Have the payments made by Constantine and its residents come anywhere near in helping to recover the costs that seem to have been incurred by the city of TR since that endeavor began? In other words, was it really worth it and has the city really come out ahead after all?

I agree, A viking. How can grant money for a skateboard park be a sensible decision on anyone's part? It's still taxpayer money being used! I thought the state and most municipalities were in tough financial times? What is aesthetically pleasing about a skateboard park anyway? How does it enrich the minds or hearts of most people? Probably not at all is my response. And besides, what real purpose does a skateboard park serve? How many months of the year will it be used? My guess it won't be maintained and in a couple of years it will be in disrepair - just as I recall happening to the basketball courts by the park AND to the tennis courts down by Pealer Street Bridge! Haven't those courts have been an eye sore for years? As I remember, they were built (with pride) with grant money! And to add salt to the wound, the way I view it, those old growth walnut trees were sacrificed for a pitiful and short-lived project which benefits very few for only an even shorter period of time. Is this how the leaders of TR think money is wisely spent?

I agree. Perhaps, everything happens for a reason. She received a decent settlement albeit there must have been great stress and heartache involved during this time period for her. More than likely she is making more money now than when she did working for TR. Also, it appears her responsibilities have enlarged due to the fact that the budget of South Haven is at least twice that of TR's budget which will give her the experience for even greater opportunities in the future. My guess is she is back in the municipal retirement system. Perhaps, the biggest plus, is she not only has a new employer who is aware of this "incident" but maybe, just maybe believes she did the right thing as she herself believes she did. And let's face it, South Haven is a beautiful area right there next to Lake Michigan!!!
