If I read it right, a duty person has to be within 5 minutes of the station. How many of the firemen live within 5 minutes of the station? It seems to me that I can go a long way around this area in 5 minutes. You seem to want the best of both worlds. On one hand, you say that you wont respond to certain issues, but then you criticise what is being discussed. You'll say, that we dont have any idea what we are talking about. Is that how you lead the department. Leadership involves guiding others toward a common goal right?. I would think as an Assistant Chief you would be a problem solver rather than be so critical of others. This station would not be just yours, it is the taxpayers..correct? It seems that you are wanting us to pay for something without knowing anything. Or better yet, a "take our word for it" approach. Here are 2 easy questions..Do you think the station plans were presented to the taxpayers in the right way and do you think the plans were justified to the taxpayers enough during the meeting at Lockport? If you do, please explain. (most if not all in attendence, would disagree). If not, that is my reasoning for asking you these questions!

Thanks TR Transplant!!!!!! Originally posted by TR transplant WHOA! BEEP BEEP Back up the bus I think I fell off somewhere! The talk is continually about how the cost of the building can be reduces, then WHAMMO, "the same building plans are being proposed", with no changes. Huh, sounds like what I have been afraid of all along, lots of smoke about lowering the cost, then deciding that no, we want it all! SMALL THINKING?!?!?!? You want to talk about small thinking, however noone is willing to talk about consolidating the city & LFP? Wouldn't it be even better to explore all our options before we drop some serious change in a new station? If you are truly fiscally responsible you would.

I am not sure its "small thinking" to be fiscally responsible. AGAIN, there is no question about whether they need a station. The question that MANY of us have is involves the fiscal planning and preperation and finally the professional ethics of having a Chief distribute a petition. The Assistant Chief said that he wishes to exhibit nuetrality. Did the Chief? All size thinkers should be heard.[:)]

Sandymom, I agree with you. I am still not sure where I am leaning at this point. After asking the Assistant Chief questions about where the new proposal is right now, and being criticized for supposedly not attending the meetings, I am left still not knowing. I still think this is a place to get answers and sometimes be entertained. I am not sure what is discussed here will change our lives or humanity but rather make us more informed of who and what is among us in our everyday life. I am still very interested in having someone from lfpfd answer my quesitons. A person shouldnt have to go a meeting to be eligible to get answers. I thought asking in this forum, someone from lfpfd would answer them. Apparently, I was wrong. The thing that bothers me most is when someone is critical of what is being said in this forum and then fails to correct or says they cant answer it. I might be possible that Mr. Roderick isnt involved building proposal. If someone someone else from lfpfd would like answer questions, please respond. I would like to know if the building committee is proposing the same building plans that were presented at the township meetings or have they been changed? Did the Chief of lfpfd personally take a petition around? Did lfpfd recieve cheaper offers to build a firehouse and the houses?
