Mark Siljander - Here's a story with a local flair
Three Rivers Area • Jan 15, 2012 4:21 AM
Well, finally Mark has to at least partially pay the piper. After years of lying and denying that he, as usual, would do anything for a dollar, and a year and a half after finally pleading guilty while cowering on the courthouse steps facing trial, he faces a small punishment. At least the one year and one day requires his stay to be in a federal facility rather than a local jail. I see no mention of any fine or repayment of the $75,000.00 in grant money (Our tax dollars) that he stole. Again as I said 2 years ago, I hope the conviction is enough to keep him out of elected office or government employment. However, it will probably go to the top of his lobbiest resume'. Now if his local supporters can finally get a taste of the "real" Mark, maybe they will look twice at the next local politition that tries to "break the back of Satan" just to get a vote.

I think you were commenting on cuzimrite's reply. Mine had nothing to do with the attitudes of local police whom I respect. Just to set the record straight. Tabletop

It seems the going saying around this area is that "It is easier to ask forgiveness than permission". Did not seem to work this time. And it would have given the toter's somewhere to go during Fair week.
County plans to send nearly $7 million out of sta
St. Joseph County • Apr 30, 2011 1:54 AM
Unfortunately a recall pretty much has to wait until it is to late and they have done the deed to know who to go after. Also I am not sure of Michigan's provisions for recall. I seem to remember some years back everyone wanted to get ride of someone and just had to wait to vote against them at re-election time. Some members of the commission are blowing in the wind and will not make a stand until they know how it will affect them (read: chance of re-election). By the way I was in Howe the other day and all the signage has changed. No longer Howe Military Academy. Now it is The Howe School, a part of Trine University. I must have missed the news when this happened. Now if they got $6.9 million from Lagrange County and built their new buildings on extra land in Howe, MAYBE we would benefit without giving them the money. But if they had money to take over Howe Military why do they need our money to build their own campus?
