Michigan Artists Join Forces for Tsunami Relief

Three Rivers Area • Apr 24, 2005 8:12 PM

Just recently some local TR bands did a rock concert at the school for the Tsunami Relief. There were three bands playing and it was only three dollars to get in. Two of the bands playing were In The Gray and Situs. "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education." - Mark Twain

A T.R. teacher learns the difference he has made

I was there on Fisch Day so I can give a little more of a personal view. In fourth block all the classes were making fish out of construction paper, some students made more than one. The office kept playing Fish songs all day and people were winning prizes of things like Swedish fish candies and Goldfish crackers. At lunch we were given goldfish graham crackers along with our meal. Then to end the day we watched Shark Tales. It was exciting that so much work was put forth for Mr. Fisch and the hopes that he'll get better. "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education." - Mark Twain

Strip searching 7th graders

These United States • Nov 29, 2004 6:38 PM

If that ever happened to me or anything like it, I would go down fighting. It irks me enough already that they have the "right" to search our lockers, bags, and even cars. The moment a teacher threatened to do a body search, I'd have the principal down there in a second. Trying a strip search however, I'd be flipping out my cell phone and calling the cops. Abusing homeschoolers

I think that both embilmama and Buck are right. I’m friends with a number of different home school students even though I go to public school myself. I notice that my friends who band with other home school kids and do activities and go on family field trips tend to be a lot more social. But I also have known other home school kids to be very awkward around too many people and a lot of times ignorant of the things that go on nowadays, which can be a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it. I go to TRHS and I have to give my school credit because it really is a good school. Sure, it’s going to have its problems but we are given so many opportunities. We have things like CTE, NHS (National Honors Society), and groups like Purple Pride and Science Olympiad. We have a great music and band program, which is hard to get at home, although I have heard of kids coming from Huss and home school to be in the Aristocrats. On top of that home school kids can take classes at TRHS like science classes so they have materials that are hard to obtain outside of being a biology teacher. So there’s my defense for public schools. [:D] "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education." - Mark Twain
